Luật mới cho xe đăng bộ tại California:

1. Từ nay DMV không gởi giấy báo “Car Registrarion Renewal” trước  2 tháng cho đến ngày phải  “Renew Registration’ như họ đã làm trước đây. Ai có xe đáo hạn “Renew Registration” phải tự lo liệu “Reniew Car Registration”.

Do đó phải cần biết rỏ xe của mình đến tháng nào thi phải “Renew Registration” để mà lo liệu “Register”.

Cũng cần lưu ý là những xe củ (thường là 5 năm sau khi mua xe mới) thì cứ 2 năm 1 lần phải có “Check Smog” và “Pass”, thì mới “Renew Registration” được. Do đó cần chuẩn bị đem xe đi “Check Smog” trước, có từ 1 hay 2, 3  tuầnn trước ngay đáo hạn (Smog Test passed sẽ tự động chạy  thẳng vào hồ sơ của xe liên hệ ở DMV).

2. Lệ phí Renew Regitration từ trước đến nay la $34. Kể từ tháng 7, 2011 lệ phí này sẽ tăng lên đến $46. (tăng $12).
“$12 increase in the registration fee (from $34 to $46)”.

3. Đừng để chậm trể (quá hạn) sẽ bị cảnh sát ghi giấy phạt và DMV áp dụng « Late Fee »

CALIFORNIA CAR REGISTRATION NEW LAW:

As of July 1, 2011, California DMV is no longer required to mail out advance notices for upcoming vehicle registration. They are balancing that change with an additional grace period of 30 days before penalties would be applied. They are also adding $12 to the registration fee. I understand the state is trying to cut back on the costs of mailing out the notices and trying to increase revenue with the increased fee as well as hoping that many of us simply forget to pay our registration on time, thereby adding even more through penalties. Key here is that if we don’t remind ourselves with post-it notes or iPhone alarms, we will pay extra for our vehicle registration.
